OPENING ACT President Schroder returned from his snowbound trek to the outer reaches of Iowa and opened the meeting before a crowd of 62. A special thank-you to Adam Bain for filling in on such short notice. Mark Schweibert gave the invocation and Darly's other brother Daryl Townsend led the musical interlude. Daryl Townsend presented $71 for the Pantry Day collection. John Califf made a weather rated decision to postpone the Annawan interclub and move it to the Golden K which meets Thursday mornings at 10:00 a.m. Dick Fislar provided a couple of announcements. The first was in regard to the upcoming Holiday Party at Circa '21 on March 19th. A few tickets are still available. On another note please fill out the member information sheets and turn them in so that an updated Membership Directory can be completed. Liz Berridge happily updated the Bowl-a-thon total to $556. V.P. Denise Ormsby has Rose Day tickets available. Come one, come all and don't be shy. Tom Stontz introduced five members of the Leadership Conference committee which will be held this Saturday March 1, beginning at 9:00 a.m. Each member gave a brief update on this years conference. Eighteen Happy/Sad Dollars was collected covering a wide range of topics. Joe Beatty won the first Fun & Fellowship drawing for $6 and then the cartel made a valiant attempt to add $11 to their winnings but went home empty handed.
THE FEATURE ATTRACTION Liz Berridge introduced her "Boss" Sister Joan Lescinski, the 13th President of St. Ambrose University. Sister Lescinski gave us a colorful timeline of her journey to St. Ambrose. She was originally trained to teach high school English, moved to the college level and then transitioned from teaching to higher education administration. Now with 35 years of ministry in higher education she is very happy to be at St. Ambrose. She has stepped right into long term planning for the college to help accommodate the largest freshmen class in college history this past Fall and anticipating continued growth. When she can find some personal time she has found herself in hot air balloons, tried her hand at sky diving and is now taking lessons to get her pilot's license and can be found in the skys over north Davenport, and Mt. Joy. These adventures can be summed up in her own father's words, "and for this you went to college?"
FUTURE ATTRACTIONS March 3 March 10 March 17 March 24 Joe Taylor, March 31 Bruce Carter,
