OPENING ACT President Steve Schroder called the meeting to order. Mondays meeting was another one of those rare occasions when the meeting was held in the parallel universe of the west end of the Botanical Center banquet room where everything is just a bit backward from where we are used to finding things.John Califf reminded us of the March 17 Interclub meeting in Annawan. Dick Fislar reminded us to submit any updated information to him for a new edition of the Club membership roster, which will be forthcoming. He also reminded us of the Circa 21 social event with Rotary on March 19. We were fortunate to have both our current Lieutenant Governor present, who congratulated the Club and thanked it for our donation from the recent bowling tournament, as well as our immediate past Lieutenant Governor, who presented several awards to the Club for outstanding service under our immediate past President, Dick Fislar. Monday was another donation day and checks were given to representatives of NAMI, St. John Lutheran Church, the Child Abuse Council, Rock Island High School Special Education Department, Black Hawk Optional Education, and Rock Island Girls Softball.
Guests included representatives of the Alleman and Rock Island High School Key Clubs, as well as a prospective member with Heath Treharne. In Fun and Fellowship, Al Beck won the preliminary prize, which he graciously donated back to the Club. The chance to win the grand prize was won by the Kartel, but Lee Schenck was unable to get the Vulcan Mind Meld working with Mike Bell, and the Kartels investment went into the red again.
THE FEATURE ATTRACTION Our program was given by Todd McGreevy, the publisher of the River Cities Reader. He presented a brief but interesting outline of the inception of the idea for the paper, its circulation, its contents, and his goals for the future.
FUTURE ATTRACTIONS March 10 March 17 March 24 Joe Taylor, March 31 Bruce Carter,
