THE FEATURE ATTRACTION The program was given by the Education Department of the Rock Island Elks Club. Similar to Kiwanis International, the Rock Island Elks Education Department strives to serve youth, particularly underprivileged youth, from the Illinois and Iowa Quad Cities. This groups mission is to broaden educational and personal growth opportunities for minority and at-risk students and their families. The Elks programs include an Experience the World Annual Youth Trip which, this year, features a trip to Disney World for 24 deserving youngsters selected by community leaders. The Elks also sponsors two different golf tournaments, a Unity Fest celebrating the rich and diverse characters of our communities, and a scholarship program. The scholarship programs provide at least three college scholarships to low-income Iowa and Illinois graduating high school seniors. The program has given away more than $50,000 in scholarships.
