March 10, 2008 Meeting

Bill Nelson.jpg (160683 bytes)

OPENING ACT

Our March 10 meeting was again convened by President Steve Schroder. As was the case last week, we met in the West Wing of the Botanical Center Ballroom. Jonathan Turner and his Kiwanis E Street Band provided the music and entertainment.

Lee Schenck served as songleader, and her selection of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" unfortunately brought back scary childhood memories for Bob Stecker of winged monkeys and houses falling out of the sky in Kansas.

Special mention was given to the return of two members, Dale "Ya Gotta Have Heart" Grabau and Michele "Yes Sir, That’s My Baby" Youngquist.

John Califf reminded us of the Interclub to be held the evening of March 10, in between cell phone calls from some overseas friends of his about out-of-town Interclubs.

Another announcement came from Bill Nelson, who gave his annual plea for helpers for the Saturday Park District egg hunt.

Steve reminded us to provide any updated personal information for Dick Fislar regarding the updated membership roster.

Guests included Bill Nelson’s children, whom he proudly introduced, as well as several other Alleman High School and Rock Island High School Key Clubbers.

Denise Ormsby reminded us of Rose Day on April 23.

There were a number of Happy and Sad Dollars attributable to births, successful operations, rounds of golf in exotic locations, and the usual variety of events.

THE FEATURE ATTRACTION

Monday was our annual assistance to the Parks and Recreation District filling-up-Easter-eggs-with-things
