OPENING ACT

President Dick Fislar was present and accounted for to conduct our weekly meeting.  We were also pleased to again see the bandleader of the Kiwanis Drum & Bugle Corps, Jonathan Turner.

President Dick reminded us of the officers installation dinner to be held September 20 at O’Melia’s.  Social time will begin at 6:00 with dinner to follow.

Dale Blocklinger was in attendance, so President Dick presented Dale with a well-deserved Legion of Honor award.

Adam Bain reported that the Pancake Day is on the fast track to success with more to follow.

Lieutenant Governor Tony Simon was present to report on the recent District meeting, to provide compliments to the Club for its hard work and participation in Kiwanis projects, and to present awards to President Dick for spastic paralysis programs and the bowling tournament.

John Califf announced that there will be an Interclub in Kewanee at noon on Wednesday, September 19 at the Methodist Church, 108 East Central Boulevard.

In Fun and Fellowship, Jim Horstmann graciously donated his preliminary prize winnings to the Key Club.  The Kartel managed not to win the grand prize.

You can tell when school is back in session because we get to welcome back our Key Club members.  Representatives were present from Rock Island High School.

THE FEATURE ATTRACTION

The program consisted of presentations by the head football coaches of the Rock Island High School and Alleman High School football teams.

FUTURE ATTRACTIONS
