THE OPENING ACT

The meeting was called to order by President Steve Schroder. To provide our musical contribution, Jonathan Turner returned to lead the Kiwanis Musical Merrymakers.

President Steve reminded us that next week, June 16, we will be meeting at Modern Woodmen Park. Tryouts for the Bandits will begin promptly at 1:30, so bring your cleats.

John Califf thanked all of those who assisted in the Habitat for Humanity project and reminded us of the annual Atkinson Interplanetary Rolle Bolle Night Wednesday, June 11, to which our Club is invited for an Interclub.

Gene Smith reported that our Birdies for Charity rate is currently going at $1.22 per birdie, but we still have a way to go to beat last year’s totals.

President Steve again made the call for nominations for the Hixson Award.

In Fun and Fellowship, the Kartel won the preliminary prize, having invested $8 in tickets to win this $5 prize. The Kartel also won the right to complete for the grand prize, which the Kartel again did not win.

THE FEATURE ATTRACTION

The program was given by Bill Stoermer from Exelon. Bill gave an excellent and very well-organized presentation on the Cordova facility under the title, "Nuclear Energy: Safe, Clean and Reliable". Bill gave numerous additional items of information supplementing a power point presentation centered on four themes, nuclear power in the United States, how does nuclear power work, the Exelon commitment to safety, and environmental impact

FUTURE ATTRACTIONS

June 16 Kenny Massey
Modern Woodmen of America CEO

June 23 Claire Peterson
John Deere Golf Classic

June 30 John Califf
Travel to India
