May 29, 2007 Meeting

President Dick Fislar.jpg (210572 bytes)

OPENING ACT

May 29, we celebrated a joint meeting hosted by the Rock Island Rotary Club. The Club’s President is Jeff Dismer.

Jeff had some trouble identifying the exact term used for the service club affiliation of our

President, Dick Fislar, so it took a while to be able to identify Dick as a Kiwanian who is familiar with where Kewanee is, who likes to Kiwanize his car, always admired the Roman general, Kiwanius, and is very proud of the ring given to him by his wife with a very large karat Kiwanite.

Since Rotary was the host, most of the meeting was taken up in watching Rotarians get their wallets vacuumed by one of their Vice Presidents over darned near anything you can think of.

President Dick gave a number of reminders for our Club members, including Birdies for Charity, a special recognition of the significance of Memorial Day, a reminder that next Monday’s meeting would feature a rolle bolle demonstration, the June 13 Interclub at Atkinson, and a news item that Alicia Shuman was back home after recent emergency surgery.

In the Rotary lottery drawing, our Club member, Jim Heineman, won and elected to contribute his winnings to the Kiwanis Foundation Project.

THE FEATURE ATTRACTION

The program was given by Ken Martin of Metro Youth.
